Thermo pine is pine wood that has undergone special heat treatment, as a result of which the material becomes strong, durable and resistant to external influences. In recent years, thermal pine has gained popularity in construction and decoration, as it combines the natural qualities of pine with improved characteristics that make the wood ideal for use both indoors and outdoors.


What is thermal pine?

Thermo pine is pine wood processed under the influence of high temperatures in special chambers without access to oxygen. As a result of this process, the structure of the wood changes at the molecular level: carbohydrates that attract microorganisms are destroyed, moisture leaves the wood, and the fibers acquire stability and resistance to deformation. Thermal pine becomes denser, more durable, and its color changes to a darker and more noble shade, reminiscent of exotic wood species.


Thermal treatment of pine includes the following stages:

  • Heating: the wood is slowly heated to a temperature of 100°C, gradually increasing to 130-140°C. At this stage, moisture is removed.

  • Thermal exposure: then the temperature rises to 180-220°C, while the wood is kept under the influence of heat for several hours. This process deprives the wood of carbohydrates, making it unsuitable for insects and fungi.

  • Stabilization: the treated wood is gradually cooled and stabilized, fixing the shape and preventing cracks.


As a result, thermally modified pine acquires unique properties, making the material in demand in conditions of high humidity, sudden temperature changes and other aggressive environmental influences.



Advantages of thermally modified pine

Thermo-modified pine has a number of advantages that make it one of the most popular materials in construction and design.


  • Increased resistance to moisture. Thermally modified pine is much less susceptible to swelling and shrinkage due to the absence of free moisture in the structure of the wood. This property makes the material ideal for outdoor use: terraces, fences, facade cladding - thermally modified pine can withstand all this for many years without losing its original appearance.

  • Protection from fungi and insects. Thermal treatment makes the wood unsuitable for microorganisms to feed on, which means it becomes immune to rotting and other biological destruction. Even in conditions of constant humidity, thermally modified pine retains its properties, remaining strong and stable.

  • Durability. Treated pine lasts much longer than ordinary wood, and this is one of its most valuable advantages. Thermally modified pine can retain its qualities for more than 25 years, which makes it an excellent choice for various structures designed for a long service life.

  • Aesthetic appearance. Under the influence of high temperatures, thermally modified pine acquires a rich brown hue, which makes it similar to more expensive types of wood. At the same time, thermally modified pine retains its unique texture, making the material especially attractive for both interior and facade decoration.

  • Stability of dimensions and shape. During processing, wood loses most of its moisture, and as a result, thermally modified pine becomes less susceptible to deformation, cracking and shrinkage. This is especially important for flooring, facades and other structures that must maintain stable dimensions.
